DEPRESSION

                          DEPRESSION

                                                       what is it?

From the medical point of view depression is considered a mood disorder, transient or permanent, characterized by feelings of downheartedness, guilt and unhappiness.
But I'm not going to talk about depression in a medical way, I'm going to talk about it from the experiences that some young people were brave enough to tell me.
First of all, people who suffer this mental illness usually describes it as a deep empty inside them that cannot be filled. Moreover, they say that they feel an endless sadness, lost, and not wanted.

                                                when does it appear?

Depression appears in teenagers mainly when they continously remain themselves about their complexes. Sometimes, they are not the only ones who remains them this complexes but friends or parents. Futhermore, school can be a big oppessor in their lifes, due to it asks for a lot of responsibility that some teenagers are not able to face.
The symptoms of depression are:
-Highly irritable mood.
-Lack of motivation to do what you usually like to do.
-Insomnia.
-Sudden increase or decrease in appetite.
-Stress, fatigue and self-destructive feelings of guilt.
-Feelings of loneliness and despair.
-Suicidal thoughts.

                                                what are their escapes?

Sadly, teenagers who suffer this disorder harm themselves to feel the pain they feel inside outside. They say that it is like to open a door to let their monsters inside their heads go out. Moreover, depressed people usually are the ones who cry the most, and cry make them feel more free. However, not everybody with depression do this, some of them just try to face without any escape.

                                                sadness or depression?

Everyone around the world has had at least once a mental breakdown where we feel very sad and incapable to do or face some aspects in our lifes. However, this sadness cannot be confused with depression. The sadness we sometimes feel can end in a day or two, or maybe even a week, but the sadness that depressed people feel is endless (like a metioned before). Sometimes, people who see depressed people smile and 'happy' think that they are already okay, but they are not. When depressed people smile is because they want to hide their real feelings. Moreover, if you see a depressed person happy that does not mean they have got over depression, they just are having a better day.

how do we get over depression?

From my point of view I think the first step to get over depression is telling someone you trust how you really feel to free yourself. After this, you should ask for medical help, they are the ones who can really give you advices and medication if it is necessary.
